Free Sample Packs from Sample Magic

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I’ve got nothing to share of my own creation this week, so I’ll direct you to the Free Downloads that Sample Magic offers.

There are over a dozen free sample packs in various electronic musical styles.

This is just a taste of the Sample Magic catalog. Their sample collections get great reviews from Music production publications like Sound On Sound, Remix, Computer Music, and Music Tech.

I’m sure you’ll find a use for them in your productions.

Free Sound Of The Week 06

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Free Sound Of The Week is a new weekly series here on AGZ, once a week I’m going to share a couple sound samples I’ve recorded or created and manipulated.

This time I’m sharing some more samples of one of my circuitbent toys. This is a V-Tech Talking First Words toy, I modified it with a 1/4″ output jack and pitch control. I’ve included the 18 original sounds and 24 of twisting the pitch knob, I’ll post the rest of the set (54 more) another time.

Free Sound Of The Week 05

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Free Sound Of The Week is a new weekly series here on AGZ, once a week I’m going to share a couple sound samples I’ve recorded or created and manipulated.

This week I’ve got a bunch of samples of smacking a pot lid. Might not sound too interesting, but check out my examples below to see if they’re something useful for your productions. I think they’re pretty useful for a sort of tribal percussion feel.

There are 13 wave files, mono, 16 bit, 44.1kHz. DOWNLOAD HERE

A quick example of the sounds, just barely scratching the surface of what you can do is below. These examples are just dropping all the samples into the FL Studio step sequencer and drawing a random pattern

Example 2

I’d love to hear what you can do with them.

Free Sound Of The Week 04

Free Sound Of The Week is a new weekly series here on AGZ, once a week I’m going to share a couple sound samples I’ve recorded or created and manipulated.

This time I’m digging into the archives. What I’ve got this week is sounds from my circuit bent Speak & Math, from a few years ago. These are taken straight from my Toys Breaking library, if you like glitchy weird samples check that out.

Free Sound Of The Week 03

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Free Sound Of The Week is a new weekly series here on AGZ, once a week I’m going to share a couple sound samples I’ve recorded or created and manipulated.

These samples are short hits on a disposable aluminum tray. Doesn’t seem too useful at first, but try dropping them into a step sequencer and making random patterns. Distort them, add FX, go nuts!

Some example loops (what I came up with in 2 minutes) MP3s are below. Download all 12 16bit,  44.1kHz Wav files here: Free Sound 03 RAR

Free Sound Of The Week 02

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Free Sound Of The Week is a new weekly series here on AGZ, once a week I’m going to share a couple sound samples I’ve recorded or created and manipulated.

These samples we’ll call Household Drones. Big rumbly low frequency drones. They were created by attaching a contact microphone to various home appliances – air conditioner, large room fan, inside a freezer and refrigerator. Each sample is long, ranging from 3 to 4.5 minutes long (for seamless loops) and recorded at a high sample rate 96kHz (for clean time-stretching) and unprocessed.

Download 1 min preview MP3s below and 24 bit – 96kHz Wav files here: Free Sound 02 RAR
