Yeah, I’m moving again. Staying in the Vancouver area though so the move should be way less stressful. Last time the move involved a 7 day drive across the continent and a 3 month wait for my studio gear to arrive.
When I’ve been telling people I’m moving again they seem surprised because it seems like I just moved to Vancouver. Actually, it’s been over 3 years and I have 2 kids since then! Our 1 bedroom apartment is getting very crowded. We’ve found a nice little old house in Burnaby with a big yard, garden and fruit trees. It needs a lot of work but it’s exciting times for us. Even though the house doesn’t belong to us, it will feel much more like a home than an apartment building or condo ever could.
In the new house I can dedicate the majority of the basement to a studio space and workshop, but it’s not ideal. Houses in BC tend to have ground level basements with low ceilings. I don’t do a lot of tracking and so much of my work comes from online. it might be ok, but I don’t really have a choice.
What this means for the blog – I’ve been wanting to transition AGZ into a more personal blog for a while. I’ve turned down a lot of guest posts recently for various reasons and I’ve cut back on advertising. As my audio hobby turned to a career and primary income I’ve become much less interested in researching and discussing it. I’ll still be doing the Home Recording Show whenever possible. I’ve taught myself to cook pretty well over the past year and I’m going to be getting into woodworking once I’m into the new house. All I’m saying is don’t be surprised or annoyed if I start posting about “domestic” topics more than audio.
