Video: Building your own kits in Geist

Geist is a sampling and looping tool from FXpansion. It’s great for chopping up loops, sequencing and so much more. I’ve been playing around with the free Lite version of Geist for a month or two but when I saw a great deal this weekend I upgraded to the full version.

While I wait for my serial number to be delivered, I’ve been watching tutorials. This one from Plughugger I found to be pretty useful. He shows how to assemble a kit consisting of 4 kicks, 4 snares, 4 hats, and 4 percussion sounds. I was able to work through the process with the Lite version in about 30min including downloading samples. It was a good way to get comfortable with navigating the browser and finding sounds.
