There’s a few days left to grab Steven Slate Drums EX for $20 from AudioMIDI.com. Steven Slate Drums is powered by Kontakt. It comes with version 3.5 but the newest (still free) is Kontakt Player 4. Personally, I found the it extremely difficult to figure out the Multi-channel output for Kontakt, it was the first time in a long time I’ve had to read a manual for a plugin.
To save you some of the same headache, here is a Pro Tools Template I’ve set up using Kontakt 4 player. Use the import Session Data command to bring the tracks into your session.
*IMPORTANT* – Whenever you load a new Multi-patch in Kontakt you need to click the “reset out map” button. See image below.

Thanks for this. The plugin is a great deal – but the install process was insane (especially compared to ezdrummer). The zip file nesting was like one of those russian dolls!
Not only was the installation a bit involved, I had a lot of problems getting the software registered. Today after a couple hours removing Kontakt 3.5 and replacing it with Kontakt Player 4 and reinstalling the Service Center software I finally got it. That was quite a way to go to get this dialed in! So far, I am happy with the sounds that I have heard in the package though.
I’m waiting on this to download right now. Which is taking forever – thanks Saudi’s Internet! Either way, for 20 bucks who can complain.
Thanks for the post I’m definitely bookmarking this for the (hopefully) not too distant future when everything’s finished downloading. Looks like I’ll check out Kontakt 4 also.
Thanks for the PT template also, that’s going to be a huge time saver. Looking forward to getting these up and playing with them a bit. The samples on the site sounded pretty cool.
Aside from the complications you were having, how do are they sounding for you?

I was one of the lucky ones that got files no problem, I even had to download mac & PC versions.
They sound great as they are, they don’t provide as much tweak-ability as the others like SD2, BFD, AD but I don’t think they need much tweaking.
