XILs said they’re looking into it.
The vst version works wrapped to RTAS.

Having been in software development for the past twenty+ years, yes, you do have to test installations on clean machines and the QA team probably slipped up. It’s still a pain in the behind to do this testing, but in the larger scale of things, it doesn’t take that much effort. It’s a lot easier these days, what with virtual machines and all. Even so, people forget.

Get bit enough, though, and you finally remember…

I submitted the info to XILS directly, who replied that they will look into it.

Someone else had the problem with the demo, but different OS.

That MSVCR80D.dll is the [M]icro[S]oft [V]isual[C] [R]untime 8.0, [D]ebug version. It’s a bit strange you would need this to run an end-user program since this is usually for developer’s own test versions. In any case, this is a well known DLL and you could probably get it online. Be careful downloading DLLs from random sites though.

(The reason a problem like this slips in to the real world is that the developers themselves actually all tend to have this DLL on their machines so they don’t notice a problem. Which is why they should have tested it on a clean machine, but still…)

Chances are, find a copy of that DLL and put it in your windows system or system32 directory, or maybe the VST directory.

Ooh that’s a nasty error. I couldn’t get the VST of the Blue Tubes plugin to load in Ableton (it crashed it and then disabled it next time I opened it) but it works fine in Pro Tools. Pretty nifty and I will probably use it for a track or two. I definitely remember why I install additional plugins sparingly though.
