I second the D-Box suggestion. I tried one out in my studio for a few weeks, and it’s nice. AND it gives you an excuse to use outboard compression, etc., since the signal is already in the analog realm.

I did a studio install for a client where I combined a Toft ATB mixer with an Apogee Symphony System and Logic. It’s a pretty sweet setup.
