I took these pics last weekend, the new pc build (oh yeah, it’s silent) delayed me getting these up, that and I lost the camera for a few days. I took some crappy video, but it’s not even worth posting. Click to enbiggen the picture, yeah!
The New Mini Grand plugin for PT8
The New Expand! 2 plugin for PT8
The New A.I.R. Reverb plugin for PT8
PT8 is going to be great.

i fail to see how this update does anything for PT users who have actually studios, like me. all the new stuff is just a bunch of plug-ins for people who don’t have pianos or outboard reverb, etc. in fact, it just seems like PT decided to be more like logic. oh, except without the ADC. color me unimpressed so far. but i have hope for the elastic audio pitch-shiftee thing…
thanks for the pics, though!
I was a little underwhelmed with Elastic Pitch. Its just a couple new boxes added to the elastic properties box. So pitch shifting is region by region, but non destructive.
A couple things I really like besides the new plugins, is the new playlists dropdown view and the automation lanes.
ADC in LE/MP is not coming, don’t hold out for that. Get the Mellowmuse ATA plugin and quit complaining.
i fail to see how i was “complaining” about ADC. i was merely pointing out that is the single biggest problem with PT LE and that if they want to emulate logic so much, as this update surely seems to be doing, then maybe including ADC would be nice.
and that ATA plug-in, while a decent attempt, ain’t quite there yet, IMO…
Sorry KJ, it wasn’t really directed at you, just disgruntled Protoolers in general.
With so many features and easy to use tools, we are SO privileged these days. The kind of editing I do daily I’d never even begin to comprehend how to do it on tape.
I like the new look, it’s easier on the eyes, I won’t need to turn the brightness on my monitor anymore when I’m editing.
Even if you don’t use MIDI much, it will be way more enjoyable to use, and not a chore like back in 6.9 era pt.
This looks vaguely desperate from digidesign. redesigning the layout/skin, come off it, it’s shocking that this is only introduced now. The competition is closing in. What digidesign should be doing is sorting out the playback engine. That is the one and only thing that would make things better for digi. everything else is pretty much excellent. who out there needs a software synth? new customers? they aren’t buying pro tools, are they? i hope it is less cpu intensive and the playback engine is completely re-written, oh and that digi buy RME and ableton. other than that i’m still using pro tools. how contradictory i am today!
