How to use Mellowmuse Auto Time Adjuster tutorial

This new Auto Time Adjuster plugin took me a while to figure out, so I figured I’d save everyone else the trouble by giving you step by step instructions on how to use it.

  1. Buss all your audio tracks to a ‘dry bus’ aux track with no other plugins on it
  2. open ATA on insert A of all tracks. Hold Alt/Option to do to all tracks at once.
  3. set ATA mode to audio for audio tracks, aux for aux tracks, and master for on the master fader.
  4. Bypass all other inserts (ctrl/command + alt/option to do all at once)
  5. Bypass all sends (ctrl/command + alt/option to do all at once)
  6. On your master ATA click the P (ping) button
  7. Re-enable all your inserts and sends (ctrl/command + alt/option to do all at once)
  8. enjoy your perfectly delay compensated mix.

This is the method that worked for me, let me know if I missed anything.

Note that step 4 is different than in their video tutorial, I found from my own testing today that this is the only way it works. The video tutorial uses the digi time adjuster plugin, not actual plugins (ie ones that alter the sound) and pinging was less effective unless done with the inserts bypassed.

Don’t forget that the price of ATA goes up to $49 on Aug 1 2008, and it also requires the FXpansion VST to RTAS wrapper.
