Blogs always do this, why should this one be any different? The bands on this list aren’t wicked underground, but are bands that have really impressed me in the past year with their latest releases.
- She Wants Revenge
- Killswitch Engage
- Atreyu
- It Dies Today
- Bleeding Through

This band is everything I love about the 80s, their album came out in 2006. The production is minimal but the songwriting is excellent and very catchy, but not quite pop songs. I think they probably record in Logic, but I’m not sure. http://www.myspace.com/shewantsrevenge

Killswitch Engage is such a good band, I wish I had started to listen to them sooner. Their albums are produced by guitarist Adam D. and sound amazing even though there is some audible clipping. http://myspace.com/killswitchengage

Atreyu looks like a typical Emo band, I’ve still laugh whenever I see them, but they are a fantastic band. Three of the five members of the band sing or scream on many of the songs, depending n what works best for the song. You don’t see that very often. A Death-Grip On Yesterday comes with a DVD making-of documentary of the album. http://www.myspace.com/atreyurock

I found It Dies Today on Myspace, and because they were on the Label Trustkill I gave them a chance. Sirens totally blew me away, their songwriting and musicianship has improved so much since The Caitiff Choir. http://www.myspace.com/itdiestoday

Bleeding Through is loud and fast, and put on a great live show. Very good production on The Truth, their latest album, with all that is going on in these songs, it never gets muddy, everything can be heard clearly. The album is a bit tiring to listen to loudly because it is not dynamic. At all. http://www.myspace.com/bleedingthrough
I guess you know my taste in music now, mostly metalcore, but I also enjoy bands like Depeche Mode, Killing Joke, Nine Inch Nails, just they didn’t release albums as good as these recently.

Some great bands there but of course not for everyone, mainly if you like your music loud and heavy. No doubt that these are technically great musicians. You could also add Disturbed to the list.
